How do chefs keep their knives sharp?
To get a knife sharp you use a sharpening stone, either an oil stone or a wet stone. I like a wet stone (using water) but they both work. The steel doesn’t actually sharpen the blade but helps keep it from getting dull. Sharp knives are key tools for the chef and you take care of your tools.

How often do chefs sharpen their knives?
Stainless steel knives normally want honing with a steel every 2-4 uses. This will keep them sharp. Carbon steel knives should be honed after each use. If you have been honing, you should need to sharpen your knives no more than once per 1-2 years.17 Sep 2014
Where should I put my knife block?
If you don’t have the counter space or prefer to keep your knives in a drawer like the rest of your flatware, you can safely store them there. To avoid cutting yourself, and prevent blades from dulling by rubbing other utensils, you can keep them organized in a drawer insert.24 Jul 2019
